This report covers a detailed design benchmarking study of the Isuzu/Saab Sapporo 2.5L V6 TDI diesel engine and includes a photographic record of all the main components, plus individual masses and dimensions. Ricardo comments on specific design features are also included.
This V6 engine has 4 valves per cylinder with common rail type direct injection and features a variable geometry turbocharger. The bore is 80.3mm with a stroke of 82.0 mm. The cast aluminium cylinder block has a bank angle of 66 degrees. Main bearings are 4 bolt with cross bolting and ladder frame. The crankshaft is steel and is machined and hardened all over. The cylinder heads are aluminium alloy.
The maximum power of this V6 is 93kW (96hp) at 4000rpm and its maximum torque is 250Nm at 3000rpm.
