This engine performance and emissions benchmarking study was conducted on the 2019 edition Peugeot 308 1.2L Puretech 130 S&S with EB2ADTS engine (96kW, 116 g/km CO2).

The report covers results and analysis from the vehicle emissions tests and engine dyno mapping at both hot engine conditions and warm-up (50°C coolant) conditions. As well as expert analysis, comparisons are made to the Ricardo database scatter and the previous generation of this engine to add perspective to the results.

Illustrated with maps, plots, and diagrams, it explains the key features of the engine and how they are deployed to achieve Euro 6d emissions compliance with competitive fuel economy. Interesting features of this engine include:

  • Award-winning downsized 3-cylinder engine
  • PSA claim “Final” RDE (Euro 6d) emissions compliance
  • Dual VVT with late intake valve closing and high internal EGR rates
  • Active thermal management system
  • Integrated exhaust manifold and high-temperature turbine for extended Lambda 1 operation
  • Turbocharger with electric wastegate
  • Revised close-coupled catalyst
  • GPF

The Ricardo EconoMark approach to engine benchmark testing ensures representative engine performance and accurate, repeatable data from an engine dyno. The focus is on fuel economy/CO2, regulated exhaust emissions, and performance of the engines in their passenger car applications.
